WK 3 POST 1
Communicating with a makeup company in the United Kingdom was difficult because of the time difference and the price of international calling. I reached out to them several times through email with no response. I felt as if it cost to call then it would be better on their behalf to respond to emails but I was wrong. This made communicating with them very irritating and nearly impossible unless I wanted to pay.
Communication has changed drastically with the use of social media, you can send direct messages as well as leave comments under post to communicate with businesses. Most business don't want to get a bad customer service reputation on so they respond more quickly on social media. It doesn't look good when brands have comments under the post complaining about shipping or lack of communication.
If I like a product I will leave a positive comment under the post. I choose not to leave negative reviews under business post because I feel like its unnecessary, if you want to speak negatively of a brand or business use your own platform to do so.
Dealing with negative comments is something that I have to deal with on a daily basis. My style of makeup is not everyones cup of tea so they express that under my post in the comments with rude things to say. Its been hard dealing with these comments but I try to respond professionally because I'm a brand now and I don't want to have a reputation of being unprofessional or having a bad attitude .

Dealing with international companies are always difficult especially if there aren't many means of communication. I find with many businesses they are quite unresponsive unless you're giving them money which I agree is very frustrating. I have dealt with negative comments in the past as well and it can be very demoralising but the best way is to always respond with kindness and never stooped to their level. On a brighter note, being from the UK, I loved your cup of tea analogy!
ReplyDeleteIt can be difficult communicating with a business on social media too. I got really bad customer service from someone who I think must have been overwhelmed with orders and DM's from other customers because she did not reply to me and when she did, she was very rude, plus I never got my order. I think you have to be even more careful with how you treat your customers on social media because negative comments can be posted right away and you can be tagged.
ReplyDeleteWhen I buy online, I often search for the product on Amazon, and see it is "Fulfilled by Amazon." Then I know I not only have somewhere to go if it doesn't arrive or is the wrong size. Only in the most extreme situation will I click "Buy" for something made and shipped from China -- I have only had a problem once, but I don't need the extra worry. I know that this gives Amazon more money, and its not a company I want to actually support, but they do take over a lot of problems that overwhelm small (often solo) businesses.
